Meet The Facilitator
Dr Catherine Hart
Clinical Psychologist; Board Approved Supervisor; APS Supervisor of the Year; Intensively Trained DBT Therapist, ACT, Schema & EMDR Therapist
I have over 25 years of experience in the mental health field and 16 years as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, having worked both in the UK and Australia and across a range of clinical settings. In 2024, I was awarded the APS Supervisor of the Year, which recognised my contribution to the development and support of psychologists across the profession. I have extensive experience supervising clinicians at all stages of their careers, including psychologists and other allied health professionals, but I hold a particular passion for supporting early career psychologists as they develop confidence, clarity, and their own therapeutic voice. My facilitation style is grounded in creating safe, reflective spaces where clinicians can step out of performance mode. Rather than being assessed, advised, or “taught what to do,” participants are supported to: Bring their authentic selves into the room Explore their own beliefs, biases, and schemas Deepen their understanding of the relational dynamics at play in therapy This approach is shaped by both third-wave therapies and reflective, psychodynamic thinking, with a strong emphasis on the therapist’s use of self.
Why This Group Was Created
Through years of supervising early career psychologists, a consistent pattern has emerged: Feeling uncertain or “not good enough” → Working harder, studying more, attending more courses → Becoming more overwhelmed and self-critical when faced with clinical complexity This cycle often leaves clinicians stuck “in their heads,” despite their best efforts. This group was created to offer an alternative. By developing skills in reflective and deliberate practice—now explicitly required by AHPRA—clinicians can begin to: Move out of overthinking and into presence Build genuine confidence (not just more knowledge) Respond more flexibly when faced with the unexpected The aim is not to add more information, but to support clinicians to think differently about their work—and themselves within it.Embark on a journey to enhance your clinical thinking, strengthen your presence in the therapy room, and build confidence without relying solely on CPD. Dive into a guided reflective space that focuses on your development as a therapist.
